I have no hard evidence, just anecdotal. Manga sales have nosedived as scanalation sites rise. A used book store I go to carries a huge selection of American trades and comics, but refuses to deal in manga because he no one buys it. Same with my local comic shop. At the manga/anime convention SakuraCon this year there were several booths trying to unload their stock at bargin prices, but few takers. Walking around talking to people the story was always the same; once they started reading scanalation sites they never bought a physical manga again. I think you are very rare. There is no doubt that scanalations have had a massive negative effect on manga sales in the US.
